Acrylic Latex OVER Latex??

My landlords told me they painted the kitchen with Latex paint (white) so I bought Acrylic Latex paint (eggshell) and painted over them last night, now if you touch it with your fingernail it just scrapes off, OH NO Is there a sealer I can put over or am I doomed???Acrylic Latex OVER Latex??
You are not doomed. Just let the paint cure. Are you sure it was latex originally?Acrylic Latex OVER Latex??
A good quality latex paint will take at least 6 months to fully ';cure.';

However, as previously stated if the original paint was glossy, oil based. poor quality or dirty the paint will not have good adhesion. Weather can also play a part in how quickly paint dries.

If after a couple of weeks it's still doing this, you may have to fully prime the walls with a good quality primer such as a Zinsser product and then re-paint.

Best of luck!

I doubt it has anything to do with the paint. In a kitchen, it is possible that the walls are greasy. I would gently scrape off whatever is not adhering, clean the surface with detergent and prime it. If the primer holds, you can then repaint it.

The only other time is saw this happen was when latex paint was pained directly over a glossy finish without roughing the old paint up a bit first. If that is the case, the new latex paint cannot grab on to the slippery old glossy paint.
