my period is like a month late but i have tested twice and i am not preg. we use protection but i headr that being allergic to latex can cause your period to alter, also i heard that having sex the first time can alter it too, please help! Can using latex condoms alter your period??
no it shouldntCan using latex condoms alter your period??
There is no scientific evidence that Latex can alter your Menstrual cycle.
Cycles between 23鈥?5 days are very common. A woman may get her period only one to four times a year. Or she might have periods that occur two to three times in a month and involve spotting or extremely heavy flow. Alternatively, she may have heavy episodes of bleeding every two to three months. Irregular periods are simply what is irregular for you.
When we are under stress, regardless of the source (danger, personal relationships, work, environment) our adrenal glands are designed to secrete the hormone cortisol (see our articles on adrenal fatigue). Cortisol has a direct impact on the sex hormones estrogen, progesterone, and DHEA. Eating disorders, dieting, drug use, and reliance on stimulants like caffeine and alcohol are also interpreted by the body as kinds of stress. Poor nutrition seems to physically change the proteins in the brain so they can no longer send the proper signals for normal ovulation.
As for the latex allergy, allergy to latex condoms can cause a rash on the penis, or on the genital skin of your sexual partner. As well as redness, there may be blistering and itching. The rash usually occurs 6鈥?8 hours after using the condom. Alternatly you can experience an anaphalactic reaction which involves restriction of the airway. I doubt this is the cause of your lateness.
While home pregnancy tests can be effective, most are only as effective as your use of them. You must also follow directions exactly.
To be 100% sure you are not pregnant, see your physician and have a blood test which is rarely innacurate. A pregnancy blood test or a pregnancy serum test is a test that measures the exact amount of the pregnancy hormone, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), in the bloodstream of a woman to detect pregnancy. Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a hormone that is produced by the placenta of a pregnant woman. It is detectable in the blood and urine within 10 days of fertilization. There are two types of blood pregnancy tests, namely, quantitative blood test which measures the exact amount of hCG in the blood and qualitative hCG blood test which gives a simple yes or no answer to whether you are pregnant or not. Blood tests can detect a pregnancy earlier than a home pregnancy test. They can detect it about 7-12 days from possible conception and can also measure the concentration of human chorionic gonadotropin hormone in your blood. This can be very helpful information for your doctor in tracking certain problems in pregnancy. If you suspect any symptoms of pregnancy like delayed menstrual period, breast tenderness, pelvic pain, irregular spotting or vomiting. You must get a pregnancy blood test done to confirm or rule out pregnancy.
Good Luck
If you were allergic to latex you'd have had some other reaction to the condom than just a late period.
Latex allergies can be bad even life threatening, they can start out mild and progressively get worse with each exposure, so talk to your doc about that.
Simple stress can alter your period.
or if you take Motrin for pain that will throw off your period too.
Also if you were a virgin, I'm guessing you're not very old, some women take years to become ';regular'; with their periods, some never do, I'm 38 and have 3 kids and my never is never the same time and intensity.
Best bet talk to your doc.
I don't know about latex altering a cycle, but sex can absolutely alter your cycle. If you are allergic you wouldn't be able to use the condoms at all. If you are a month late you probably just skipped a cycle which has been known to happen. if it goes on for much longer, get a check up. You sound young... just so you know, you can tell the doctor anything and they are bound by privilege not to tell you parents if you ask them not to. You should always be honest with the doctor so they can treat you properly. If you don't tell the doctor everything then they could be missing an important piece of the puzzle in being able to help you.

I would go to a planned parenthood or a local free clinic to get tested, and even if you're under 18 they can't tell your parents (Parental support is nice though).
Also STRESS can alter your cycle. If your freaking out then that could contribute to your missing period. Another thing that can alter it is if you have recently started a more vigorous excercise routine. Women at the beginning of sports seasons that play often experience irregularity.
First and foremost, get a test at a doctor's office or free clinic. Second, evaluate your stress level. =)
if your allergic to latex you would not be able to use the condoms at all...so your not allergic to that. there could be other reasons your period is late, you could just not have a regular cycle yet. how long have you been getting your periods for? they usually arnt completly regular for a couple years, at least mine wern't...
No it does not alter your period. It can be just a mental thing. You can convince yourself enough that you could be pregnant and can cause you to be late on your period. Its happened to me a few times.
condoms can cause reactions,But it wont alter your period..If U believe that U may be pregnant, get a Test and make Sure you can easy your fears that way..Always Use a backup method with any condom!
Only if it had a hole in it. A month late??? Not all ';home'; test are accurate. You may need to get a blood test or a urine test from your doctor.
You might have just skipped a period. If you are concerned go see your doctor.
no it won't
not that I know of.
