California is THE origin of special effects and Hollywood makeup!!! Go to a costume/makeup shop and purchase a good Ben Nye makeup kit. Get some extra liquid latex, etc. and the most recent version of a good makeup book. Richard Corson and Herman Buckman both wrote great books but I'm sure there might be some new ones since I used to do disaster drills. Take a college class in theatrical makeup for all the basics.

Paint over latex ???
in the condo that we bought there is a latex paint on the door moldings.. unfortunately the latex is coming up and leaving spots on the molding that have latex and spots that you can see the previous paint. (it was a bad job by the previous owner, and no primer was used before the latex)..
should i just use a product like killz over the old latex paint and paint the entire door molding with the primer first, then paint? or should i remove the latex paint somehow and then primer.

You're gonna hate my answer... but you should remove all the latex paint. It's only gonna keep on peeling, and whatever you put over it will eventually peel, too.
Sorry.
So... buy or rent a paint stripping heat gun and remove the current paint, plus whatever is under it. You can also use one of the various paint stripping goos, but the paint gun is, IMO, faster and neater.
Once you're down to bare wood, spackle any holes or gouges, sand the woodwork thoroughly to remove all the paint debris --start w/ steel wool, then pick up a couple of the ';sanding sponges'; (they're easiest on your arm/wrist/hand and will allow you to sand all the nooks %26amp; crannies easily), one in a 80 grit and one in a 120+ grit-- use a tack rag to get rid of any sandpapering dust, then prime w/ Kilz and paint.
Choose your paint and THEN choose the appropriate forumla of Kilz to match what'll be covering it... latex or oil.
If you have any questions, the paint department managers at any home improvement store typically work Saturdays, so you'll have LOTS of expertise to assist you.
